What should a construction drone visit capture?
Start with the whole site, then record the work areas that matter to your project team. Agree viewpoints that can be used again where practical, so later visits produce a more useful visual record.
- Whole site views: establish the overall layout and visible activity.
- Key work areas: focus on the buildings, access routes or other areas specified in the brief.
- Comparable viewpoints: use reference images and labelled views to guide later visits.
- Organised delivery: agree dated files and a consistent naming structure.
The footage in this video is from one site visit. It demonstrates capture choices, rather than change between different dates.
How should you brief repeat visits?
Provide the site location, access arrangements, current activity, priority work areas and intended visit frequency or milestones. Confirm whether you need photographs, video or a dated visual record. Coordinate capture with the site team.
Visual progress footage does not itself provide survey measurements or certify completed work. Specify mapping, measurement or specialist assessment separately if required.
